X-Wing Star Fighter

SOFTWARE: Bryce 3D (3.0), Corel Photo-Paint 8
RENDER TIME: Not Recorded

DESCRIPTION: This is dedicated to my dear son Andrew. He loves planes, and so do I. There are a few reasons why I hesitated to post this image, though. First of all, there are 2 technical mistakes. Can you find them? They'll be fixed in the final version. Also, the model of the x-wing fighter looks like the engines aren't aligned properly. I fixed this in later versions using Rhino 3D, but those images aren't quite as nice as this (yet). The biggest problem, though, is that I didn't create the original DXF model of the x-wing, and have been unable to locate the author to find out whether this model was public domain. If any of you can tell me, please do! I'd like to either get permission to use it, or delete the image from the gallery. It was originally downloaded from http://www.fluidearth.com/b3/ but they haven't replied to my inquiries. Can any of you 3D maniacs help solve the mystery?

TECHNICAL: The materials are all Bryce 3D presets that most Brycers will recognize. The hazy glow is several squished spheres of a highly transparent material, which slowed the render time to a crawl! The starfields are a bit unconvincing as well, so the next version will probably have help from Universe. The lens flare was added in Corel Photo-Paint 8.

ABOUT THE RENDERING: The original rendering was made at 800x600 (72 dpi), then resampled and converted in PhotoPaint 8 to produce the smaller 640x480 JPG version.
